Which Mood?

Which Mood?

Apr 30, 2023

We often talk about being in a good or bad “state” of mind. What we’re referring to is our mood and how we are feeling at that time. Most people see themselves as being at the mercy of external influences. Thus, if we’re having a good day, it means things “out there” are going well; people are treating us well, our assets, and activities are progressing the way we want them to, and we’re feeling pretty good about it all. Conversely, when we say we’re having a bad day or we are in a bad mood, we mean things (people, luck, circumstances) seem to be working against us. But what if we have it backwards? What if we can determine our state, our mood, and our outlook? What if we can take charge of the script?

Remember that negative feelings (AKA bad mood) are obstacles to achieving our goals. They are roadblocks and sinkholes on the path to a fulfilling life. Think of the time and energy expelled that could be applied in so many more useful ways.
