Passion
An intense desire or enthusiasm for something.
Perseverance
The ability to be steadfast in reaching long-term goals despite difficulties.
Positivity
The ability to assess situations truthfully while maintaining a positive outlook.
Purpose
A worthy and valid reason for one’s endeavors that ultimately helps others beyond oneself.
Power
Acknowledging, conserving, and harnessing one’s power over their own destiny.
The most important aspect of these foundational elements is that they are all interconnected. Passion and perseverance are the foundational elements of grit. Passion and purpose create power and positivity. Positivity generates perseverance and power. Power aids purpose, and so on. They multiply their individual and combined strength exponentially by feeding off one another.
Most people mistakenly interchange purpose and passion. Unfortunately, it is possible to have one without the other. The goal is to develop passion for a purpose because in doing so, you instinctively develop perseverance.
